Ruth studied O & A level Art at school. She then worked as a countryside ranger! Swapping the great outdoors for child rearing, she returned to painting once "time off" was an option. Having moved to Marshland St James in 1997, an evening class at Isle College led to "greater things" - a BTEC foundation in "Art & Design". Aspirations towards a degree were cut short by the birth of child No 2.

Painting now happens in her garden "shed", when she can be spared from the said garden, children, house and menagerie! Her inspiration comes from the beautiful landscape around her + occasional forays to areas with altitude / trees! Her work is largely in oil. Overall her works are atmospheric, rhythmic + joyful with a quality which draws the onlooker into the scene.
