Since
graduating from Camberwell College of Arts in 1999, with a BA(hons)
in Ceramics, Allpress
has spent just over two years travelling around the world. Alex's
inspiration comes from the place he grew up in the countryside,
The Fens in Cambridgeshire. The clay Alex uses is a mixture of a
white stoneware clay, and camberwell buff, which is a grogged clay,
which will give the clay extra strength.
His techniques in glazing
are very simple. The whole idea is to keep the work looking organic,
so while the pots are in the kiln they have a kind of life of their
own. |
